Engineer - design

Job Summary The Design Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and refining product designs to ensure manufacturability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. The role involves ensuring that designs align with production capabilities, quality standards, technical specifications, and client requirements while supporting continuous improvement and successful product delivery. Roles & Responsibilities Create detailed engineering designs, drawings, and specifications suitable for the process Collaborate with production, quality, and procurement teams to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective Perform design calculations, simulations, and prototype testing to validate concepts Optimize existing product designs to improve manufacturability, reduce costs, and enhance performance Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and company guidelines Prepare technical documentation, including bills of materials, assembly instructions, and maintenance manuals Participate in design reviews, production trials, and problem-solving initiatives Suggest process improvements and innovative design solutions to enhance efficiency Liaise with clients and project teams to understand requirements and implement design changes as needed Stay updated with manufacturing technologies, design software, and industry best practices QHSE Responsibilities Comply with all QHSE standards, policies, and procedures relevant to your work Actively participate in QHSE meetings and complete all required safety inductions and trainings Identify and report unsafe conditions; take corrective action where possible within your scope Follow guidance provided by QHSE officers and use PPE and emergency equipment correctly Support a safe work environment by cooperating with safety practices and encouraging others to do the same Refer to the OHSMS Manual, Section 4.4.1, for further clarification on individual QHSE responsibilities and accountability Requirements Education Graduate or Diploma in Engineering, preferably in Electrical, Instrumentation, Electronics, or a related field Skills & Competencies Role Behavior Accountability - Understands own role and how to contribute to the organization's success Work Management - Ensure own work plan, support departmental and organization goals Performance Management -Individual Contributor - Balances priorities to accomplish goals Innovation - Seeks and willingly shares leading edge ideas and best practices People - Shows resilience when faced with setbacks or criticism Job-Specific Competencies Strong knowledge of protection relay communication and protocols Ability to select appropriate devices based on technical specifications and project requirements Ability to understand customer specifications, prepare compliance statements, and develop cost-effective technical solutions Self-driven team player with strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills Ability to independently manage and lead technical discussions and meetings with clients and consultants Skills Strong knowledge of LV switchgear products and applications Sound understanding of implementing complex control and protection logic in LV switchboards Proficiency in Auto CAD and/or EPLAN for preparing and reviewing GA drawings, SLDs, and electrical schematics Experience 7-8 years of experience in designing complex LV switchboards, including IMCS and communication systems using the latest digital numerical protection relays Experience working on Oil & Gas projects will be an added advantage Experience with Eaton products will be preferred #J-18808-Ljbffr
